Watch out for the September 2026 Harvest Food Drive – in schools and in churches

10th July 2026

Many churches and schools collect for the hungry in Stockport as part of their Harvest celebrations. We have seen an increase in other community groups using the Harvest period, a time of plenty, to make generous contributions too.

We are going to run a competition for the craziest vegetable photograph. Please send your photos to Stewart Johnson by 30th September 2026.

Let me just say, we aren’t collecting veg! If you are planning to organise a Harvest collection for us, we would be delighted to receive the following items:

  • Toiletries
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Tinned meat and fish – particularly tuna and mackerel in oil!
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned tomatoes
  • Long life milk
  • Rice puddings
  • Tinned vegetable
  • Biscuits
  • Tinned sponge puddings
  • Treats for children like crisps, small bars of chocolate, cereal bars etc.
  • Pasta sauce – please check the sauce isn’t prepared with red wine as we can’t accept!
