Reverse Advent up and running for Christmas 2020

Reverse Advent

Could we ask you to look at Advent differently?

During this time children (and adults!) enjoy taking a treat from their calendar – but perhaps this year we can ask you, your family, office colleagues, Church members or neighbours to put something back into our community to help those in need?

Could you add a daily food item into a collection bag and donate it to Stockport Foodbank?

How do I take part?

It’s very simple.  You don’t need to register, just start collecting in your home, with your friends and family (socially distanced of course!) and then drop your bag or parcel with us at our Hazel Grove foodbank warehouse during December or at St Martin’s Church in Heaton Norris on 19 Dec – the dates and detail are shown below. It’s as simple as shop and drop!

What should I donate?

We welcome donations of a variety of long-life food items including milk, juice, tinned puddings, rice pudding tinned meats, tinned vegetables, tinned potatoes, biscuits, snacks and toiletries including soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste.   Please, no Christmas puddings or Christmas fayre containing alcohol. At present we have an excess of pasta, baked beans, soup and pasta sauce so we don’t need any donations of these items too, thanks.

Your donations can be dropped off at Hazel Grove Baptist Church SK7 4EX

  • Mondays 12.00 – 2.30pm
  • Wednesdays 10.30 – 2.00pm
  • Thursday 10.00 – 12.00noon
  • Fridays 11.30 – 2.00pm

Or at St Martin’s Church Norris Bank SK4 2JE on Sat 19 Dec 9.00 – 12noon

If you require more information please email us at [email protected] or call us on 07483 115349.

Financial donations

We recognise that some people may not be getting out and about as much at the moment but may still be keen to support us. We are welcoming financial donations as well as food donations. These can be done in a variety of different ways – by sending us a cheque made payable to Stockport Foodbank to Hazel Grove Baptist Church, Station Street, SK7 4EX, by donating via justgiving or by bank transfer. More details on how to support us financially can be found here.
