Biomedicine student uses free time to support Stockport Foodbank

15th October 2020

When Alekhya Pureti found out the first term of her biomedicine degree was moving online she decided to stay at home to study rather than travelling to university in Cardiff and use her free time to help others.

The final year student who lives in Cheadle has been organising weekly collections for Stockport Foodbank and then dropping those donations to the foodbank’s warehouse in Hazel Grove.

Stockport Foodbank manager, Nigel Tedford commented “It is great to see young people such as Alekhya, thinking of others and using their free time to support their local community. We are delighted that Alekhya has such a positive attitude and I am sure this will go along way in ensuring a successful future for her.”
