We were delighted to receive a cheque for £780 from Stockport Harriers and Athletics Club representing a percentage of the race proceeds from the 2019 Stockport 10 race. This brings the total raised from the event to a massive £1,253.35 as well as six large boxes of food and toiletries donated by the race goers.
Stockport Harriers chose to fundraise in aid of Stockport Foodbank at the iconic race in December. There was a bucket collection in the car park, a competition to win Edgar the Dragon, Olympos Sports Injury Consultation provided massages with all donations going to Stockport Foodbank and Run North West, the expert running retailer, donated a percentage of their sale proceeds on the day.
Foodbank manager Nigel Tedford comments “We are extremely grateful to Steve Shaughnessy and the team at Stockport Harriers and Athletics Club, Olympos Sports Injury Consultation and Run North West for fundraising in aid of Stockport Foodbank at the Stockport 10. The race is a favourite in the North West attracting almost 1000 competitors, so it was great to be able to raise the profile of Stockport Foodbank with this audience. A massive thank you goes to the participants, their families and the volunteers for their support. We are delighted to be chosen again as the charity for the 2020 race.”
