Reverse Advent 2019 – please help to spread some Christmas cheer

7th November 2019

For the vast majority, Advent is a time of opening windows on a calendar and watching the children’s (and adults) faces as they devour the piece of chocolate! However, rather than Advent being a season of ‘taking’, can we turn it around to be a season of ‘giving’?

Rather than ‘taking a piece of chocolate’ could we put something back into the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves?

Reverse Advent encourages us to do exactly that.

During Advent we are asking people to set aside a bag or box and each day put into it a long life food item which would help those in need within Stockport.

How do I take part?

If you would like to take part you don’t need to register, just start collecting and then drop your bag or parcel with us at one of our drop off centres in Stockport (Hazel Grove Baptist Church, St Martin’s Norris Bank or Tesco Portwood) on the dates detailed below. We accept donations in any bags or boxes but if you need a collection bag please email us at [email protected].

What should I donate?

We welcome donations of a variety of long life food items including milk, juice, tinned meats, tinned vegetables, tinned potatoes, tinned puddings, rice pudding, biscuits, snacks and toiletries including soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Please, no Christmas puddings or baked beans.

If you have any queries regarding Reverse Advent please get in touch by email [email protected] or visit our Reverse Advent website.

Let’s help bring some Christmas cheer to families across Stockport!
